En el adulto, la hematopoyesis ocurre en la m\u00e9dula \u00f3sea aunque se cree que las hscs se generan durante el desarrollo embironario (revisado en cumanoy godin, ann.Rev.Immunol 2007). la hematopoyesis embrionaria en rat\u00f3n empieza a d\u00eda 7-7.5 de gestaci\u00f3n, en el saco extraembrionario, mientras que a d\u00eda 9.5 empieza la hematopoyesis intraembrionaria en la aorta rodeada de g\u00f3nada y mesonefro (regi\u00f3n denominada agm). Actualmente, se cree que ambos tejidos hematopoy\u00e9ticos son capaces de generar pre-hscs o hscs adultas, que colonizar\u00e1n el h\u00edgado fetal a d\u00eda 12 de gestaci\u00f3n (amplic\u00e1ndose le n\u00famero de hscs) y finalmente, cerca del nacimiento, la m\u00e9dula \u00f3sea, donde dar\u00e1n lugar a los diferentes tipos celulares hematopoy\u00e9ticos durante la vida adulta (revisado en cumano y godin, ann. Rev. Immunol, 2007). La v\u00eda de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n celular a trav\u00e9s del receptor de membrana notche regula procesos de homeostasis y desarrollo de tejidos, tanto en el embri\u00f3n como en el adulto (revisado en lai, development 2007). La v\u00eda de notch controla procesos de proliferaci\u00f3n, diferenciaci\u00f3n y muerte celular en tejidos tan dispares como el sistema nervioso central, sistema vascular o el sistema hematopoy\u00e9tico.  en \u00e9ste \u00faltimo, se ha descrito funciones de notch en la proliferaci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas madre, toma de decisiones de destino celularo previ\u00f3n\/inducci\u00f3n de muerte celular por apoptosis (revisado de radtke, febs letters 2006). Nuestros resultados mediante el an\u00e1lisis de ratones deficientes en algunos componentes de la v\u00eda de notch, como rbpjk (oka, development 1995), jagged1 (xue, hum mol genet 1999) y jagged2 (jiang, genes dev 1998) y el uso de inhibidores farmacol\u00f3gicos de la v\u00eda denotch (tales como dapt y l-685) indican que la v\u00eda de notch no es indispensable para la
