A estos nuevos disolventes se les ha atribuido el calificativo de \u00abverdes\u00bb por el hecho de presentar una presi\u00f3n de vapor despreciable a temperatura ambiente, siendo adem\u00e1s f\u00e1cilmente reciclables y reutilizables. Adem\u00e1s, las propiedades de los ils son f\u00e1cilmente modulables mediante la adecuada selecci\u00f3n del ani\u00f3n y cati\u00f3n constituyentes del l\u00edquido i\u00f3nico, lo que permitir\u00eda dise\u00f1ar el l\u00edquido i\u00f3nico m\u00e1s adecuado para cada aplicaci\u00f3n concreta. El presente trabajo de tesis tiene como finalidad analizar el potencial de los l\u00edquidos i\u00f3nicos como medios de reacci\u00f3n y separaci\u00f3n en reacciones de transesterificaci\u00f3n enzim\u00e1ticas.  los ils inmiscibles con agua han resultado medios muy adecuados para llevar a cabo la s\u00edntesis de \u00e9steres catalizada por la lipasa b de candida antarctica (calb), incrementando la actividad y selectividad enzim\u00e1tica con respecto a los valores obtenidos en disolventes org\u00e1nicos convencionales como n-hexano. El uso de l\u00edquidos i\u00f3nicos miscibles con agua ha dado lugar a menores valores de actividad enzim\u00e1tica que n-hexano, aunque la selectividad en estos medios es mucho mayor (> 99.9%). Para conseguir el mantenimiento de la actividad catal\u00edtica ante el efecto desnaturalizante de los ils miscibles con agua se ha obtenido un nuevo agregado enzim\u00e1tico entrecruzado (clea) de calb que es activo en estos medios.  los ils se han revelado tambi\u00e9n como prometedores disolventes en su empleo en procesos de separaci\u00f3n, m\u00e1s concretamente como fase l\u00edquida en membranas l\u00edquidas soportadas (slms). Se han desarrollado slms basadas en ils que permiten llevar a cabo la separaci\u00f3n selectiva de sustratos y productos de reacciones de transesterificaci\u00f3n. La caracterizaci\u00f3n microsc\u00f3pica de las slms mediante microscopia de barrido electr\u00f3nico acoplada a energ\u00eda dispersiva de rayos x (sem-edx) ha permitido
