En este trabajo hemos detectado con anticuerpos monoclonales tres tipos de cspgs: uno no sulfatado (cospg), y dos sulfatados en la posicion 6 (c6spg) y 4 (c4spg) de la hexosamina del cs. La localizacion en el snc de rata adulta consistio de: 1) una distribucion pericelular de cospg\/c6spg alrededor de las celulas en cesto de la corteza cerebral, 2) una distribucion intracelular (citoplasma, nucleo y axoplasma) de c4spg en las celulas de purkinje, golgi y granulares y en las fibras paralelas y glomerulos cerebelosos. Asimismo estos cspgs se expresan in vitro en neuronas corticales y cerebelares. Cospg, c6spg y c4spg se expresan en etapas iniciales del desarrollo continuando su expresion hasta la madurez del snc. Cospg\/c6spg se localizan en la placa subcortical y c4spg esta formando parte del sistema de fibras musgosas que inervan la corteza cerebelosa. Los cspgs in vitro promueven la extension de las neuritas pero no sus cadenas de css e interaccionan con la molecula de adhesion neural (n-cam).
