La investigaci\u00f3n se centra en dos tecnolog\u00edas diferentes 1) dos lechos fluidizados que emplean como soporte sepiolita y carb\u00f3n activo granular (cag) y 2) dos reactores de lecho m\u00f3vil que contienen cubos de espuma de poliuretano y anillos pl\u00e1sticos. Ambas plantas fueron operadas con ciclos cortos de aeraci\u00f3n para eliminar materia org\u00e1nica, nitr\u00f3geno y f\u00f3sforo. Los reactores operan de forma continua y son alimentados con agua sint\u00e9tica y\/o industrial con contenido medio\/alto de dqo (300-760 mg dqo\/l), amonio (90-500 mg nh3-n\/l) y f\u00f3sforo (9-18 mg p\/l). Los reactores de lecho fluidizado y lecho m\u00f3vil, alcanzaron altas eficacias de eliminaci\u00f3n de dqo, amonio y f\u00f3sforo alrededor de 75-98% de dqo, 40-99% de nh3-n y 7-85% de p , y alrededor de 77-89% de dqo, 55-86% de nh3-n y 8-19% de p respectivamente. Los reactores presentaron un alto potencial para el tratamiento de aguas residuales, convirti\u00e9ndose en una alternativa, desde el punto de vista t\u00e9cnico y econ\u00f3mico, a los sistemas tradicionales. La comunidad microbiana de los reactores fue estudiada empleando diferentes t\u00e9cnicas. Las actividades heter\u00f3trofa y nitrificante del fango son determinadas por respirometr\u00eda, mientras que la actividad desnitrificante se establece midiendo la producci\u00f3n de gas durante la desnitrificaci\u00f3n. Se demuestra la existencia de una segregaci\u00f3n de la biomasa: la actividad heter\u00f3trofa es mayor en suspensi\u00f3n (400-530 mg dqo\/g stv.D) mientras que la actividad nitrificante alcanza mayores valores en la biomasa adherida a soporte (19-39 mg n-nh4+\/g stv.D). Dicha segregaci\u00f3n fue constatada mediante la formulaci\u00f3n microbiana del fango adherido (6% n)  y suspendido (11-12% n).
