Esta actitud general esta originada y encauzada por un planteamiento teorico, mucho antes que tecnico, las \u00abteorias de la restauracion\u00bb. Los distintos enfoques que pueden darse al posicionamiento teorico determinan el caracter que va a adoptar todo el proceso de restauracion de una obra de arte. Puede producirse un predominio de la exaltacion y potenciacion de los valores historicos de una obra (siempre respetables) o bien el que se centre toda la problematica en la recuperacion material del objeto artistico, con el consiguiente despliegue de recursos tecnicos. Ambas posiciones son de alcance cultural restringido, porque relegan la que ha de ser la finalidad primordial de cualquier actividad asistencial: la consolidacion de la integridad material de las obras (deteniendo, al menos, su proceso de degradacion) y, en especial, la potenciacion de sus cualidades esteticas, de su dignidad y transmisibilidad, de su provecho como valor intemporal y, a la
