Schiller esta presidida por una constante dialectica entre la realidad y la idea. Como poeta y pensador schiller aspiro siempre a un ideal de armonia, de reencuentro con la naturaleza, cuya consecucion fuese fruto del total despliegue de la libertad humana. Sin embargo, como tragico que era, schiller siempre tuvo clara la imposibilidad de realizar este ideal debido a la radical finitud del ser humano, que encuentra en la muerte un limite infranqueable a sus aspiraciones. Pero en la obra de schiller el arte se convierte en la clave para hallar una sintesis entre lo real y lo ideal.
