El sistema es el resultado de la interacci\u00f3n de los equipos radioel\u00e9ctricos constituyentes del gmdss con otros dispositivos. esta nueva aplicaci\u00f3n resultante es capaz de superar las limitaciones de cobertura propias del vhf, utilizado por otros sistemas de identificaci\u00f3n de buques, como el ais. Adem\u00e1s no plantea la necesidad de recurrir a t\u00e9cnicas satelitarias.
