La apoptosis inducida por fas podria colaborar al da\u00f1o renal en nefropatias glomerulares y tubulointersticiales. En esta tesis hemos abordado la participacion de fas y de su ligando en patolog\u00eda renal.  hemos demostrado que las celulas renales expresan fas y su ligando bajo la regulacion de lps y de citoquinas que participan en el da\u00f1o renal. Los leucocitos que infiltran el ri\u00f1on tambien expresan la citoquina y el receptor.  otros autores han demostrado que fas puede inducir apoptosis y proliferacion de leucocitos. Nosotros hemos comprobado que las celulas renales expresan los genes necesarios para la induccion de la muerte celular por fas, asi como genes protectores. De acuerdo con esto, la activacion de fas induce muerte celular y apoptosis de celulas glomerulares y tubulointersticiales. Ademas, fas tiene otras funciones como la regulacion de la expresion de genes relacionados con la quimiotaxis. Hemos aportado datos sobre la capacidad de fas para causar da\u00f1o renal in vivo. De hecho, la inyeccion de anticuerpos anti-fas indujo una mesangiolisis acompa\u00f1ada de hematuria y proteinuria. Ademas, durante la endotoxemia esta elevada la expresion renal tanto de fas como de su ligando.  en conjunto, estos datos aportan nuevos datos sobre el papel de fas en la patogenia de diferentes
