Sin embargo, hasta ahora no se hab\u00eda acometido la transcripci\u00f3n \u00edntegra de dicho manuscrito, labor que se ha llevado a cabo en el primer volumen de esta tesis doctoral, antecedida por una larga introducci\u00f3n. Esta \u00faltima se compone de una semblanza biogr\u00e1fica del autor, una aproximaci\u00f3n a su producci\u00f3n escrita y un estudio pormenorizado del manuscrito, tanto desde el punto de vista material como de su estructura, poseedores, copias, avatares del c\u00f3dice, infortunio cr\u00edtico de la obra y fuentes empleadas por el autor, as\u00ed como de la intenci\u00f3n que subyace en el texto -especialmente desordenado, en todo caso-, en la que adquiere un papel esencial y muy relevante el pintor sevillano diego vel\u00e1zquez (1599-1660). Se abordan despu\u00e9s otros asuntos pol\u00e9micos, como la relaci\u00f3n de d\u00edaz del valle con la arquitectura, la controvertida decoraci\u00f3n del sal\u00f3n dorado y la alcoba real del alc\u00e1zar de Madrid y el uso -y abuso- que de su obra hizo antonio palomino en su museo pict\u00f3rico y escala \u00f3ptica (1715-1724). Por \u00faltimo, un ap\u00e9ndice en que se propone una reconstrucci\u00f3n de la biblioteca que posey\u00f3 d\u00edaz del valle y la bibliograf\u00eda empleada en la elaboraci\u00f3n de la tesis doctoral. Con la transcripci\u00f3n \u00edntegra del manuscrito acaba el primer volumen. El segundo est\u00e1 dedicado a la anotaci\u00f3n de la obra, una de las m\u00e1s importantes en el debate fundamental de la pintura espa\u00f1ola del siglo xvii: el que atendi\u00f3 a su
