La presente tesis doctoral dedicada a su figura est\u00e1 dividida en tres partes. La primera reconstruye su perfil humano y su biograf\u00eda, su carrera como pianista y posteriormente como director de orquesta, ligado primero a la orquesta de c\u00e1mara de Madrid y la orquesta de c\u00e1mara de radio nacional, y luego a la orquesta nacional de espa\u00f1a, de la cual fue titular entre 1947 y 1958. La segunda parte analiza la actividad art\u00edstica internacional de ata\u00falfo argenta a trav\u00e9s de la cr\u00edtica musical del momento, tanto espa\u00f1ola como extranjera. La tercera parte aborda distintos aspectos de ata\u00falfo argenta, como su perfil art\u00edstico (a trav\u00e9s de testimonios de personajes contempor\u00e1neos), su estilo interpretativo y su relaci\u00f3n con la \u00abescuela alemana\u00bb de direcci\u00f3n, su relaci\u00f3n con los directores cari schuricht y ernest ansermet, su t\u00e9cnica de direcci\u00f3n, as\u00ed como su repertorio y sus estrategias de programaci\u00f3n. El estudio se complementa con diversos anexos con documentaci\u00f3n biogr\u00e1fica, material gr\u00e1fico, listas de conciertos ofrecidos, listas de repertorio, discograf\u00eda, discursos y
