La alquilaci\u00f3n del adn puede dar lugar a mutaciones que, eventualmente, inducir\u00e1n la aparici\u00f3n de tumores y c\u00e1ncer.   en este trabajo se ha estudiado el potencial alquilante de lactonas y n-alquil-n-nitrosoureas, para comparar su reactividad qu\u00edmica con su actividad biol\u00f3gica. Como substrato de alquilaci\u00f3n se ha utilizado la mol\u00e9cula 4-(p-nitrobencil)piridina, nbp, de nucleofilia an\u00e1loga a la de las bases del adn.   se ha investigado la reactividad de beta-propiolactona, beta-butirolactona, gamma-butirolactona, delta-valerolactona, furanona y alfa-ang\u00e9licalactona. Despu\u00e9s de dos semanas no se observ\u00f3 capacidad alquilante de la g-butirolactona, d-valero lactona y furanona. El potencial alquilante de la beta-propiolactona es diez veces  mayor que el de beta-butirolactona. La alfa-ang\u00e9licalactona presenta una reactividad \u00aban\u00f3mala\u00bb (900.000 veces m\u00e1s reactiva que la beta-propiolactona) que se ha interpretado mediante un mecanismo de \u00abentropy-strain-catalysis\u00bb.  la alquilaci\u00f3n de nbp por n-alquil-n-nitrosoureas transcurre a trav\u00e9s de un mecanismo que incluye la descomposici\u00f3n de alquilnitrosoureas, hidr\u00f3lisis de los productos y alquilaci\u00f3n de nbp por ataque nucleof\u00edlico. Las reacciones de alquilaci\u00f3n est\u00e1n controladas est\u00e9ricamente, lo que es coherente con el hecho de que la actividad biol\u00f3gica de las alquilnitrosoureas disminuye al aumentar su tama\u00f1o molecular (las alquilnitrosoureas impedidas son inactivas biol\u00f3gicamente).   se ha encontrado una correlaci\u00f3n entre capacidad alquilante y carcinogenia de las lactonas y
