La metodolog\u00eda est\u00e1 basada en un sistema de listas de comprobaci\u00f3n para identificar los peligros, as\u00ed como en otras herramientas f\u00e1ciles de entender para personal no experto en seguridad. Los or\u00edgenes del desarrollo de la metodolog\u00eda se basan en dos herramientas existentes, harsmeth y check cards for runaway. Se han seguido diferentes enfoques para llegar a una metodolog\u00eda de asesoramiento fiable. En primer lugar se ha verificado la eficacia de ambas metodolog\u00edas en diferentes empresas dedicadas al desarrollo de productos de qu\u00edmica fina, para determinar las fuerzas y debilidades de cada una de ellas, y para aprovechar las ventajas identificadas para crear una \u00fanica metodolog\u00eda llamada harsmeth version 2. A continuaci\u00f3n, se ha probado esta versi\u00f3n exhaustivamente en dos empresas qu\u00edmicas para mejorarla, detectando fallos y expandiendo las listas de comprobaci\u00f3n con el fin de cubrir el m\u00e1ximo n\u00famero de cuestiones posibles en el asesoramiento. Otras actividades se han centrado en el desarrollo de herramientas para la determinaci\u00f3n te\u00f3rica de entalp\u00edas de reacci\u00f3n y para la identificaci\u00f3n de peligros t\u00e9rmicos en equipos de proceso. La versi\u00f3n final de la metodolog\u00eda que se ha desarrollado, llamada harsmeth new process, est\u00e1 estructurada para realizar el asesoramiento siguiendo los pasos l\u00f3gicos del desarrollo de un proceso qu\u00edmico, empezando por el dise\u00f1o de la reacci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica en el laboratorio, siguiendo con el an\u00e1lisis de la estabilidad y compatibilidad de los reactivos, el an\u00e1lisis de la peligrosidad de la reacci\u00f3n, el escalado del proceso y la determinaci\u00f3n de medidas de seguridad necesarias para implementar el proceso a escala industrial en funci\u00f3n de los peligros identificados anteriormente.
