El gen helios, incrementa tambi\u00e9n su diversidad empleando un mecanismo de recombinaci\u00f3n entre secuencias hom\u00f3logas situadas en los exones 2 y 7, que difiere del procesamiento can\u00f3nico del rna. Adem\u00e1s, tambi\u00e9n genera nuevas isoformas a trav\u00e9s del uso de un sitio cr\u00edptico de procesamiento situado en el ex\u00f3n 3. el estudio del gen helios fuera del sistema hematopoy\u00e9tico demuestra una amplia expresi\u00f3n aunque desconocemos la funci\u00f3n que desempe\u00f1a en estos tejidos. Adem\u00e1s se observa como las isoformas de helios presentan una localizaci\u00f3n celular espec\u00edfica que se puede ver  modificada al dimerizar con otras prote\u00ednas de la familia ikaros. las isoformas de helios colocalizan con elementos de la maquinaria de modificaci\u00f3n de histonas, en concreto con las histona desacetilasas hdac1 y hdac2, componentes de los complejos nurd y sin3, y otros elementos de estos complejos como la histona desacetilasa hdac3. Adem\u00e1s, son capaces de modificar su localizaci\u00f3n reclutando a dichos complejos hacia zonas del n\u00facleo ricas en heterocromatina pericentrom\u00e9rica. Este reclutamiento parece estar relacionado con un aumento de la acetilaci\u00f3n de las histonas y en concreto de la histona h3 y viene mediado, en mayor medida, por el aumento de expresi\u00f3n de las isoformas carentes del primer dedo de zinc del dominio de uni\u00f3n al dna (he.1v y he.Delta3).  por otro lado en este trabajo hemos caracterizado una nueva interacci\u00f3n entre las prote\u00ednas helios y la prote\u00edna ttrap y sabemos que en esta interacci\u00f3n intervienen al menos los 48 amino\u00e1cidos codificados en los exones 1 y 2, as\u00ed como 50 amino\u00e1cidos
