Datacasting, televisi\u00f3n de alta definici\u00f3n, sistemas dolby surround y m\u00faltiples sub-canales de programas forman parte de la revoluci\u00f3n de la tv digital. Adem\u00e1s, el apag\u00f3n anal\u00f3gico (programado para abril de 2010 en espa\u00f1a) desembocar\u00e1 en un entorno puramente digital en lo que respecta a la difusi\u00f3n de video, audio y contenidos multimedia. Por otra parte, la evoluci\u00f3n de las tecnolog\u00edas basadas en silicio tales como cmos han contribuido a incrementar la movilidad de los usuarios, ya que el coste, tama\u00f1o y consumo de potencia de los dispositivos port\u00e1tiles alimentados a bater\u00edas (tel\u00e9fonos m\u00f3viles, ordenadores port\u00e1tiles, pdas, etc.) Es menor. La proliferaci\u00f3n de dichos dispositivos representa en si misma una de las mayores revoluciones en la industria wireless. Teniendo en cuenta ambas tecnolog\u00edas, uno puede esperar una nueva revoluci\u00f3n en las comunicaciones wireless: la televisi\u00f3n m\u00f3vil. Este nuevo escenario contempla la creaci\u00f3n de un nuevo modo de concebir la industria de la tv, debido a que la tv m\u00f3vil aporta infinidad de nuevas funcionalidades respecto a las tradicionales \u00abtelevisiones de sal\u00f3n\u00bb. En consecuencia, el est\u00e1ndar dvb-h (digital video broadcasting -handheld) surge para soportar la difusi\u00f3n de servicios de tv m\u00f3vil a nivel tecnol\u00f3gico, as\u00ed como en lo que respecta a sus aspectos comercial es. El objetivo principal de este trabajo de investigaci\u00f3n es el dise\u00f1o de un front-end de rf altamente integrado y de bajo coste en tecnolog\u00eda cmos para aplicaciones de tv m\u00f3vil basadas en dvb-h. Los circuitos que componen dicho front-end son los que trabajan a m\u00e1s altas frecuencias, como el amplificador de bajo ruido (lna), los mezcladores i\/q y el oscilador controlado por tensi\u00f3n (veo). Para establecer las especificaciones de cada uno de los circuitos, se han llevado a cabo simulaciones del sistema con un receptor de dvb-h completo, una vez que dichos requerimientos han sido fijados, los circuitos se han dise\u00f1ado y caracterizado a nivel individual; su integrabilidad en un front-end completo ha sido validada mediante simulaci\u00f3n. Finalmente, se discuten algunos aspectos relacionados con la integraci\u00f3n del front-end de rf. Se ha propuesto una primera aproximaci\u00f3n a un front-end de rf completo totalmente integrado y discutido los resultados obtenidos de simulaciones post-layout  since the arrival of digital television our daily viewing and interaction with tv has changed beyond recognition. However, it should never be underestimated that the evolution of silicon based technologies such as cmos has greatly contributed to the increased mobility of users. The reduction of the cost, size and power consumption of battery-powered handheld devices, such as mobile phones, laptops, pdas (personal digital assistant), etc and their subsequent market saturation level are a clear indication of one of the wireless industries greatest strides to date. Bearing both technologies in mind, one can expect a new revolution in wireless communications: the low cost mobile tv. This technology leap demands a new form of thinking, at its core the tv industry, as the features of mobile tv extend the applications of traditional \u00abhome-screens\u00bb. As a consequence, the dvb-h (digital video broadcasting &#8211; handheld) standard aims to support mobile tv services in both its technological and commercial aspects. The main objective of this research work is the design of a highly integrated, low-power ana low cost cmos rf front-end for mobile tv handheld applications based on dvb-h. The circuits that make up such an rf front-end are those working at high frequencies, namely the low noise amplifier (lna), the i\/q mixers and the voltage controlled oscillator (veo). In order to set the specifications for each circuit, system simulations have been carried out with a whole dvb-h receiver. Once such requirements have been set, the circuits have been designed and characterised separately, and their suitability for a direct-conversion zero-if front-end has been validated by simulation. Finally, several issues regarding rf front-end whole integration are discussed.
