Entre estos sistemas, se encuentran los humedales artificiales. \u00e9stos son ecosistemas acu\u00e1ticos reproducidos artificialmente en los que juegan un papel importante determinadas plantas y microorganismos, cuya acci\u00f3n biol\u00f3gica y eficiente simbiosis permiten la eliminaci\u00f3n de las cantidades excesivas de nutrientes esenciales, materia org\u00e1nica, trazas de metales pesados y agentes pat\u00f3genos presentes en las aguas residuales. En estos sistemas, tambi\u00e9n se dan procesos f\u00edsicos y qu\u00edmicos tales como la filtraci\u00f3n, la sedimentaci\u00f3n, la fotooxidaci\u00f3n, la fotos\u00edntesis, etc., Que contribuyen, en conjunto a su acci\u00f3n depuradora. el objeto de este trabajo es el estudio de la aplicaci\u00f3n de los humedales artificiales de flujo subsuperficial horizontal en la depuraci\u00f3n de aguas residuales urbanas y v\u00ednicas, atendiendo a los siguientes aspectos principales: \u00c2\u00a2 estudio de la viabilidad de la depuraci\u00f3n de ambos tipos de aguas mediante humedales artificiales de flujo subsuperficial horizontal. \u00c2\u00a2 estudio de la influencia del tipo de planta acu\u00e1tica emergente utilizado sobre la depuraci\u00f3n de ambos tipos de aguas, prestando atenci\u00f3n tanto a la cin\u00e9tica como al rendimiento y mecanismos de eliminaci\u00f3n de los diferentes contaminantes. \u00c2\u00a2 en el caso concreto de las aguas residuales vin\u00edcolas, estudio de la influencia de la carga contaminante utilizada, y de la presencia de polifenoles como posibles inhibidores del proceso. \u00c2\u00a2 estudio hidr\u00e1ulico de los humedales, consistente en la caracterizaci\u00f3n hidr\u00e1ulica mediante la simulaci\u00f3n con modelos existentes, y estudio de la influencia de las variables antes comentadas sobre el flujo de agua. \u00c2\u00a2
