En brasil, el postgrado en la modalidad de especializaci\u00f3n (lato-sensu) ofrece una pr\u00e1ctica profesional y una formaci\u00f3n b\u00e1sica para los profesores universitarios brasile\u00f1os, que puede ser contemplada en dos dimensiones: (a) formaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica, en el \u00e1mbito de asignaturas centradas en la metodolog\u00eda de la investigaci\u00f3n y (b) formaci\u00f3n pedag\u00f3gica, que no se encuentra direccionada para conseguir el \u00f3ptimo aprendizaje del alumnado. En el actual contexto, por tanto, se hace necesaria una nueva comprensi\u00f3n de la concepci\u00f3n de la educaci\u00f3n superior brasile\u00f1a que permita la reorganizaci\u00f3n legal del postgrado lato-sensu, basada tanto en reflexiones te\u00f3ricas sobre la formaci\u00f3n pedag\u00f3gica como en el an\u00e1lisis de las acciones del profesor universitario (centradas en el desarrollo de sus conocimientos cient\u00edficos y, sobre todo, la metodolog\u00eda empleada en clase). La presente tesis, cuya hip\u00f3tesis y diversos objetivos se han centrado en la citada problem\u00e1tica, ha sido estructurada en dos bloques principales (investigaci\u00f3n te\u00f3rica e investigaci\u00f3n de campo) y en cinco etapas de estudio emp\u00edrico: estudio bibliogr\u00e1fico y documental; estudio de opini\u00f3n; observaci\u00f3n; entrevista estructurada; y an\u00e1lisis de directrices curriculares. Siguiendo b\u00e1sicamente un proceso de metodolog\u00eda cient\u00edfica descriptiva no participativa, los principales instrumentos de investigaci\u00f3n empleados han sido los cuestionarios, las listas de control y las entrevistas. Desarrollada de 2001 a 2007, la investigaci\u00f3n se ha realizado sobre una muestra de 157 profesores universitarios brasile\u00f1os de distintas especialidades. De los muy diversos resultados obtenidos cabe destacarse que la formaci\u00f3n del profesorado de educaci\u00f3n superior brasile\u00f1a es globalmente tecnicista, centrada en la formaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica muy por encima de la pedag\u00f3gica, lo que condiciona las metodolog\u00edas did\u00e1cticas que emplea en el aula, construidas habitualmente desde su propia
