Esta situaci\u00f3n motiva el establecimiento en la normativa de unos l\u00edmites de temperatura y calentamiento que no pueden ser superados por el fusible al circular de forma continuada la intensidad nominal. la presente tesis doctoral tiene por objeto la resoluci\u00f3n del problema t\u00e9rmico en fusibles limitadores de corriente de media tensi\u00f3n, en instalaci\u00f3n horizontal. Para ello, se ha desarrollado una metodolog\u00eda general que permite la obtenci\u00f3n de la distribuci\u00f3n de temperaturas en la totalidad del fusible, en la que se considera tambi\u00e9n un nuevo m\u00e9todo para la obtenci\u00f3n del coeficiente de transferencia de calor correspondiente.  la metodolog\u00eda desarrollada permite reproducir el proceso de calentamiento del fusible ante diferentes condiciones de intensidad y de temperatura ambiente y, de este modo, posibilita la evaluaci\u00f3n del efecto de la introducci\u00f3n de la introducci\u00f3n de modificaciones en el dise\u00f1o del fusible. la informaci\u00f3n necesaria para la aplicaci\u00f3n de la metodolog\u00eda propuesta comprende \u00fanicamente los datos de temperatura ambiente y de intensidad a trav\u00e9s del fusible, as\u00ed como la informaci\u00f3n relativa a las caracter\u00edsticas constructivas y propiedades f\u00edsicas de los materiales utilizados en su construcci\u00f3n. los resultados obtenidos mediante la aplicaci\u00f3n de esta metodolog\u00eda han sido validados mediante la comparaci\u00f3n con los resultados obtenidos en ensayos de calentamiento realizados sobre
