Ilustro y analizo c\u00f3mo los reyes, brahmanes vaisnavas, devotos de rama, jainistas, budistas, musulmanes, pol\u00edticos nacionalistas, mujeres e incluso el cine de bollywood desarrollan o utilizan el ramayana para expresar sus ideas diversas y contrapuestas.  el objetivo es analizar la construcci\u00f3n de significados a trav\u00e9s de los g\u00e9neros art\u00edsticos en los que aparece el ramayana ante audiencias de diferentes lugares, \u00e9pocas o grupos sociales. Para entender la adaptabilidad o movilidad del ramayana, desarrollo el concepto de ramayanasfera como sistema textual y estudio los textos que lo integran, su relaci\u00f3n con el mundo oral, su significado ideol\u00f3gico y sus funciones (voloshinov), c\u00f3mo aparece en la arena p\u00fablica (desde la tipolog\u00eda de las culturas, lotman). El ramayana es una obra panasi\u00e1tica y viva, forma parte de la vida de muchas personas. Pervive en im\u00e1genes y representaciones de varios tipos, ofrece un vocabulario de signos para conceptualizar y representar el mundo, promueve un comportamiento social, una \u00e9tica y una acci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica, un marco para la identidad y de todo tipo de intervenciones. La disposici\u00f3n \u00abmaleable\u00bb de la narrativa principal resulta ideal para la apropiaci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica. El ramayana es uno de los s\u00edmbolos que mejor representan asia, es un texto que se ha \u00abcriollizado\u00bb, ha calado en las diferentes culturas y se ha \u00abacomodado\u00bb a todas ellas. Es un texto polif\u00f3nico (bajtin) en el que miles de personas expresan su voz, un texto abierto (eco) que permite su reescritura constante y sugiere una forma de lectura.
