En el presente trabajo se definen algunos aspectos de la capacidad vectorial de esta especie. Los resultados obtenidos permiten la elaboracion de las conclusiones siguientes:  &#8211; p. Perniciosus es la especie mayoritaria en el area estudiada, cuya fenolog\u00eda esta muy influenciada por los factores climaticos locales.  &#8211; esta especie es susceptible al ddt, malation y permetrin.  &#8211; se infecta con facilidad en el laboratorio con cepas locales de leishmania infantum.  &#8211; su saliva no parece afectar al desarrollo de la leishmaniosis visceral.  &#8211; la infeccion artificial con suspensiones de promastigotes en pbs permite la realimentacion de las hembras.  &#8211; la ingestion de fructosa incrementa el porcentaje de hembras infectadas.  &#8211; la infectividad de los perros parasitados por l.  infantum es independiente de su sintomatolog\u00eda.
