S\u00e1nchez Hugalde <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>La presente tesis doctoral aborda cuestiones relativas a la segregaci\u00f3n escolar de los inmigrantes y sus correspondientes consecuencias en el sistema educativo las cuales no hab\u00edan sido estudiadas hasta ahora para el caso espa\u00f1ol. La presente tesis doctoral consta de cuatro cap\u00edtulos. Tres de ellos son trabajos emp\u00edricos que estudian distintos aspectos relativos a la inmigraci\u00f3n y al sistema educativo. el primer cap\u00edtulo de esta tesis contiene una revisi\u00f3n de la literatura sociol\u00f3gica y econ\u00f3mica acerca de las causas y consecuencias sociales de la segregaci\u00f3n \u00e9tnica que se derivan de la llegada de individuos for\u00e1neos a las escuelas. en el segundo cap\u00edtulo se analiza la segregaci\u00f3n \u00e9tnica en catalu\u00f1a. Con ello, ser\u00e1 posible identificar localidades en las cuales la segregaci\u00f3n \u00e9tnica de sus escuelas sea cr\u00edtica. Asimismo se pretende investigar sobre los factores demogr\u00e1ficos e institucionales que determinan la segregaci\u00f3n escolar en las localidades catalanas. en el tercero, la investigaci\u00f3n se enfoca en los comportamientos estrat\u00e9gicos de las familias en la elecci\u00f3n escolar en catalu\u00f1a. Se trata de evidenciar emp\u00edricamente, por un lado, los comportamientos de hu\u00edda de las familias aut\u00f3ctonas de colegios con presencia de inmigrantes, y por otro, las conductas de \u00abagrupaci\u00f3n\u00bb de los inmigrantes en determinadas escuelas. Ambos tipos de comportamiento llevan a mantener la segregaci\u00f3n en el sistema educativa. en el cuarto cap\u00edtulo, el trabajo emp\u00edrico investiga los efectos de la segregaci\u00f3n escolar de los inmigrantes en el corto plazo.
