El cloral reacciona con acetofenonas dando cloralacetofenonas. Estas sustancias, mediante acci\u00f3n de agentes deshidratantes se convirtieron en 2,2,2-tricloroetilidenacetofenonas, que fueron reducidas electroqu\u00edmicamente, en medio pr\u00f3tico, dando enonas beta,gamma-insaturadas (2,2-diclorovinilacetofenonas) con total ausencia de sus is\u00f3meras alfa,beta-insaturadas. Por otra parte, las electr\u00f3lisis en medio apr\u00f3tico proporcionaron 1,5-diaril-2-(2,2-diclorovinil)-3-triclorometilpentano-1,5-dionas. Las 2,2-diclorovinilacetofenonas se utilizaron como intermedios para la s\u00edntesis de diversos tipos de compuestos heteroc\u00edclicos las reacciones con hidroxilamina proporcionaron 3-aril-5-diclorometil-2-isoxazolinas, mientras que con hidracinas dieron lugar a 3-aril-5-diclorometil-2-pirazolinas, a partir de las cuales se prepararon dihidroimidazo-[1,5-b]pirazolonas mediante tratamiento con tosilisocianato. Siguiendo una metodolog\u00eda similar las reacciones de 2,2-diclorovinilacetofenonas con 2-hidroxietilhidracina proporcionaron dihidropirazolo[1,5-c][1,4]oxacinas.
