Entre ellos, encontramos aislantes pero tambi\u00e9n superconductores de alta temperatura. Algunos \u00f3xidos son ferromagn\u00e9ticos y otros son ferroel\u00e9ctricos, y existen otros donde coexisten ferromagnetismo y ferroelectricidad (biferroicos). \u00e9stos son algunos ejemplos notables que justifican el inter\u00e9s de la comunidad cient\u00edfica en la investigaci\u00f3n de estos materiales. Utilizando estos \u00f3xidos y las t\u00e9cnicas necesarias para la litograf\u00eda y el dep\u00f3sito de multicapas, se han dise\u00f1ado y fabricado nuevos dispositivos. Sin embargo, las propiedades funcionales de estos dispositivos, as\u00ed como tambi\u00e9n las de capas finas de estos \u00f3xidos, son altamente sensibles a algunos par\u00e1metros del crecimiento del epitaxial: las distorsiones de la red cristalina, inhomogeneidades electr\u00f3nicas, redistribuci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica. A fin de obtener dispositivos plenamente funcionales, es necesario un mayor conocimiento del efecto de estos par\u00e1metros en las propiedades de los \u00f3xidos utilizados. la espintr\u00f3nica es la nueva electr\u00f3nica que saca provecho no s\u00f3lo de la carga de los portadores sino tambi\u00e9n del esp\u00edn de los mismos. Por poner un ejemplo, las uniones t\u00fanel magn\u00e9ticas (mtjs) son dispositivos funcionales basados en dos capas ferromagn\u00e9ticos met\u00e1licas, usadas como electrodos, separadas por una capa nanom\u00e9trica aislante. Las manganitas, de f\u00f3rmula general r1-xaxmno3, d\u00f3nde la r es un ion trivalente de una tierra rara y a es un ion divalente alcalino, han sido consideradas como electrodos en mtjs. La f\u00edsica de estos materiales se basa en el efecto de la sustituci\u00f3n de iones trivalentes r3+ por una cantidad x de iones divalentes a2+, de manera que la ocupaci\u00f3n de las capas 3d de los iones mn es una mezcla de (x) iones mn4+, con 3 electrones en la configuraci\u00f3n t2g(3)eg(0), coexistiendo con (1-x) iones mn3+ tipo jahn-teller, con 4 electrones en la configuraci\u00f3n t2g(3)eg(1).
