El estudio del proceso de espumado ha sido desarrollado utilizando novedosas t\u00e9cnicas in-situ tales como la termograf\u00eda y la radiosco\u00eda de rayos x, lo que ha permitido conocer con exactitud los fen\u00f3menos f\u00edsicos actuantes durante el proceso de fabricacion a temperaturas cercanas a los 700\u00c2\u00bac. Mediante la microtomograf\u00eda de rayos x y el an\u00e1lisis de im\u00e1genes se ha determinado la estructura celular y la evoluci\u00f3n morfol\u00f3gica caracter\u00edstace de la ruta de fabricaci\u00f3n utilizada. Las propiedades -t\u00e9rmicas, mec\u00e1nicas y ac\u00fasticas- han sido analizadas desde la perspectiva de las aplicaciones finales y se ha demostrado que existe una marcada influencia del proceso de fabricaci\u00f3n y la estructura celular en las propiedades finales, principalmente en las ac\u00fasticas y mec\u00e1nicas. Fruto del estudio desarrollado se han presentado m\u00e1s de 10 trabajos en congresos internacionales y se ha alcanzado un n\u00famero similar de publicaciones en revistas cient\u00edficas de reconocido prestigio (entre otras materials letters, journal of materials science, advanced engineering materials e international journal of heat and mass transfer). Con el conocimiento adquirido se espera mejorar a\u00fan m\u00e1s las prestaciones de estos materiales para que en un futuro cercano sean utilizados masivamente en los sectores automovil\u00edstico,
