Los cap\u00edtulos 1 y 2, co-autorados con joachim voth, investigan por qu\u00e9 europa en 1700 ya era m\u00e1s rico que el resto del mundo y por qu\u00e9 inglaterra fue el primer pa\u00eds en industrializarse. Encontramos que las din\u00e1micas de la poblaci\u00f3n, en lugar del crecimiento de la productividad, fueron los promotores m\u00e1s importantes del desarrollo econ\u00f3mico de europa occidental durante la temprana edad moderna (1450-1700). Calibramos un modelo probabil\u00edstico para representar inglaterra en 1700 y encontramos que ingresos iniciales m\u00e1s altos unidos a limitaciones de fertilidad aumentaron la probabilidad de industrializaci\u00f3n. En el tercer cap\u00edtulo, presento un nuevo hecho estilizado y analizo su contribuci\u00f3n al sesgo del cambio tecnol\u00f3gico hacia los trabajadores m\u00e1s cualificados: el porcentaje de trabajadores cualificados en la producci\u00f3n intermedia est\u00e1 altamente correlacionado con la proporci\u00f3n de trabajo cualificado en la producci\u00f3n final. Esto genera un efecto multiplicador que refuerza la demanda de trabajo cualificado a lo largo de la cadena de producci\u00f3n.
