Asi, se han obtenido mutantes con diferente especificidad de sustrato, mediante un proceso de presion selectiva, siendo localizados los residuos aminoacidicos responsables. La comparacion de la secuencia de esta enzima con otras de la misma familia ha permitido realizar el dise\u00f1o teorico de potenciales residuos estructural o funcionalmente importantes.  por otra parte, se ha investigado la posibilidad de emplear sustratos a los descritos clasicamente, determinando la capacidad de la pga de hidrolizar esteres de fenol. Este hecho ha permitido realizar el estudio cinetico en el estado pre-estacionario, de la pga nativa y de la mutante adl, caracterizando el intermedio covalente acilenzima que se forma durante el proceso de catalisis.  asimismo, se ha llevado a cabo un estudio de la regulacion y expresion del gen pac que codifica por la pga. Con este objetivo, se ha analizado el control que ejercen sobre la actividad pga diferentes factores, tales como: la temperatura, la represion catabolica y la induccion por acido fenilacetico, a nivel de transcripcion y postraducional. Se ha identificado el promotor y demas elementos que participan en la regulacion de la expresion del gen pac de k.
