Para lograr dicho objetivo, se identifican diferentes variables de la cadena franquiciadora (tipo de actividad -producto versus servicio-, experiencia de gesti\u00f3n, experiencia franquiciadora y renombre de marca) que inciden en su estrategia de expansi\u00f3n internacional. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que las citadas variables afectan al n\u00famero de pa\u00edses en los que la ense\u00f1a va a estar presente.  por otra parte, esta tesis doctoral propone una serie de variables para explicar el proceso de selecci\u00f3n de pa\u00edses en los que las cadenas franquiciadoras espa\u00f1olas van a realizar su expansi\u00f3n internacional. Las evidencias emp\u00edricas obtenidas permiten concluir que la renta per c\u00e1pita, el nivel de individualismo y el grado de aversi\u00f3n al riesgo de cada naci\u00f3n juegan un papel determinante en el proceso de selecci\u00f3n de mercados en los que las cadenas van a realizar la expansi\u00f3n internacional. finalmente, esta tesis doctoral analiza cu\u00e1les son los factores que inciden en selecci\u00f3n de cada una de las cuatro formas de entrada una cadena franquiciador puede adoptar al entrar en nuevos mercados: i) franquicia directa; ii) m\u00e1ster franquicia; iii) joint venture; y iv) inversi\u00f3n directa. Los resultados muestran el importante papel que desempe\u00f1an en esta decisi\u00f3n determinadas caracter\u00edsticas de la cadena (experiencia franquiciadora, experiencia internacional, renombre de marca y tipo de actividad -producto versus servicio-), as\u00ed como algunas caracter\u00edsticas del pa\u00eds receptor de la inversi\u00f3n (estabilidad pol\u00edtica, niveles de corrupci\u00f3n,
