Para la identificaci\u00f3n de nuevos genes supresores responsables del origen y desarrollo de este tipo de linfomas se han realizado una serie de an\u00e1lisis gen\u00f3micos que nos han permitido integrar evidencias de alteraciones estructurales y funcionales. Se demuestra la existencia de una regi\u00f3n en la zona telom\u00e9rica del cromosoma 12 de rat\u00f3n que se pierde espec\u00edficamente en este tipo de linfomas. Esta regi\u00f3n de aproximadamente 7 mb contiene el 12% de todos los micrornas descritos hasta la fecha. Entre ellos, mir-203 est\u00e1 hipermetilado en los linfomas del rat\u00f3n y humanos, as\u00ed como en otros tipos de tumores hematol\u00f3gicos, como las leucemias mielog\u00e9nicas cr\u00f3nicas (lmc) y algunas leucemias linfobl\u00e1sticas agudas (lla). Mir-203 controla los niveles de  expresi\u00f3n del oncog\u00e9n abl1 que est\u00e1 activado en la mayor\u00eda de esas enfermedades, en algunos casos mediante una translocaci\u00f3n que genera un gen fusi\u00f3n bcr-abl1 y el cromosoma filadelfia (ph). La re-expresi\u00f3n de mir-203 es capaz de reducir los niveles de las prote\u00ednas abl1 y de bcr-abl1 y de inhibir la proliferaci\u00f3n celular. Estos resultados demuestran, por primera vez, que los micrornas pueden modular la expresi\u00f3n de genes de fusi\u00f3n especificos de tumores hematol\u00f3gicos. Mir-203 funciona como un gen supresor de tumores y su re-expresi\u00f3n podr\u00eda tener efectos terap\u00e9uticos beneficiosos en las leucemias o linfomas que expresen abl1 o bcr-abl1
