El an\u00e1lisis del polimorfismo de este locus nos permiti\u00f3 identificar ocho alelos. Las amplificaciones del locus msh43 de individuos heterocigotos generan estructuras heterod\u00faplex que les confiere un patr\u00f3n electrofor\u00e9tico espec\u00edfico que empleamos para identificar nuevos genotipos. La mayor\u00eda de los alelos aislados presentan la capacidad de formar estructuras g-cuadr\u00faplex. Estas estructuras, estabilizadas por potasio, pueden interferir en la s\u00edntesis de dna durante la pcr. Adem\u00e1s, hemos analizado si la presencia de los g-cuadr\u00faplex influye en la capacidad recombinog\u00e9nica de msh43, empleando para ello un sistema de recombinaci\u00f3n hom\u00f3loga in vitro dise\u00f1ado en nuestro laboratorio. Los resultados de este an\u00e1lisis no detectaron diferencias en la capacidad recombinog\u00e9nica entre un alelo que forma g-cuadr\u00faplex y otro que no lo hace. Sin embargo, estos ensayos mostraron que el aumento de la fuerza i\u00f3nica produce una mayor fidelidad en los eventos recombinatorios, ya que se incrementa la proporci\u00f3n de mol\u00e9culas recombinantes que mantienen la secuencia original. Por otro lado, el an\u00e1lisis de la historia evolutiva de msh43 revel\u00f3 que esta secuencia se origin\u00f3 principalmente por procesos de slippage, mediante los cuales se fue expandiendo hasta alcanzar una organizaci\u00f3n de secuencia repetitiva en t\u00e1ndem. Seg\u00fan nuestra hip\u00f3tesis, esta organizaci\u00f3n surgi\u00f3 durante la g\u00e9nesis de los monos del viejo mundo. El an\u00e1lisis comparativo de las secuencias de msh43 procedentes de distintas especies de primates, mostr\u00f3 que orangut\u00e1n y humano presentan el mayor grado de homolog\u00eda, lo que contrasta con la filogenia est\u00e1ndar. Para explicar esta paradoja sugerimos la existencia de un alelo ancestral, que denominamos alelo errante, que se ha mantenido pr\u00e1cticamente inalterado en el per\u00edodo evolutivo comprendido
