Su figura representa, como pocas, el paradigma del imaginero castizo, anclado en la tradici\u00f3n barroca, que perpet\u00faa en pleno siglo xx la estela de los modelos barrocos, tan exitosamente prodigados en  la escultura del siglo xviii por francisco salzillo y alcaraz, dentro y fuera del antiguo reino de murcia. Asimismo, s\u00e1nchez lozano encarna el perfil del artesano embarcado en la reposici\u00f3n del patrimonio art\u00edstico espa\u00f1ol, de car\u00e1cter religioso, destruido en los sucesos de 1931 y 1936.
