Este hecho se asocia con la hipertrofia renal y la proteinura caracter\u00edsticas de esta patolog\u00eda. En la presente tesis doctoral, hemos hipotetizado la participaci\u00f3n de la pthrp en los mecanismos de hipertrofia inducida por la elevada concentraci\u00f3n de glucosa (ecg). Para ello, hemos realizado experimentos in vitro con podocitos diferenciados de rat\u00f3n y c\u00e9lulas mesangiales humanas (cmh),  e in vivo con un modelo diabetes por estreptozotocina, utilizando ratones normales y con sobreexpresi\u00f3n constitutiva de la pthrp. Adem\u00e1s, hemos analizado las biopsias renales de pacientes con nd. Nuestros resultados demuestran que tanto en el podocito como en las cmh, la acci\u00f3n hipertr\u00f3fica de la   angiotensina ii (angii) inducida por la ecg, es mediada por la pthrp. En el podocito, la pthrp, v\u00eda tgf-\u00edY1, y a trav\u00e9s de la activaci\u00f3n de la pkc y de erk1\/2 incrementa los niveles de p27kip1. En las cmh, la pthrp media la hipertrofia regulando la actividad del complejo ciclina e\/cdk2 y  p27kip1. Adem\u00e1s, los niveles de la pthrp y de p27kip1 se encuentran incrementados en las biopsias renales de los pacientes con nd. Por todo ello, el sistema pthrp\/pth1r pudiera ser una diana mediadora de las acciones hipertr\u00f3ficas renales de la angii. Adem\u00e1s, la inhibici\u00f3n de la sobreexpresi\u00f3n de la pthrp por los antagonistas de la angii podr\u00eda representar un nuevo mecanismo protector de estos agentes en la hipertrofia asociada
