El conocimiento de la distribuci\u00f3n y el valor de estas tensiones puede resultar crucial. Sin embargo, los m\u00e9todos tradicionales de medida de tensiones no tienen en cuenta este tipo tensiones.   la t\u00e9cnica utilizada, se basa en la idea de aliviar las tensiones de la pieza por medio de la perforaci\u00f3n de un agujero. Sin embargo, se ha detectado un vac\u00edo en lo referente a su aplicabilidad a la hora de determinar tensiones residuales a las que est\u00e1n sometidos cierto tipo de espec\u00edmenes, que difieren en sus caracter\u00edsticas de los especificados en las hip\u00f3tesis iniciales del m\u00e9todo. Este es el caso de los perfiles huecos que conforman la estructura de un autob\u00fas.  la metodolog\u00eda propuesta, ha sido adaptada a las caracter\u00edsticas de los perfiles huecos, y permite determinar las tensiones residuales en un autob\u00fas, en concreto, en las zonas cercanas a las uniones que delimitan los montantes de las ventanas, que resultan ser las zonas m\u00e1s cr\u00edticas
