Esto ha permitido no solo establecer un patron de referencia de la poblacion hispana, sino tambien de determinar la variacion del enzima segun el estado de desarrollo del individuo, realizando nuevas aportaciones a la teoria de los radicales libres y el envejecimiento humano. Por otra parte, se analizan las interacciones de este enzima en diferentes medios rurales y urbanos, observandose una mayor actividad de sod en el medio urbano. Finalmente, se ha analizado el comportamiento de la sod en diversas patolog\u00edas, algunas de ellas consideradas como propias del paso de los a\u00f1os (cataratas, osteoporosis, problemas osteoarticulares, hipertension, etc.), Y otras con alta incidencia en la poblacion, como cancer y diabetes y en pacientes con sindrome de down, por estar localizado el gen de la sod en el cromosoma
