Recientemente, la fitorremediaci\u00f3n ha emergido como una ecotecnolog\u00eda relativamente barata adem\u00e1s de medioambiental y socialmente aceptable que propone el empleo de plantas para recuperar entornos degradados, eliminar o reducir la toxicidad de los contaminantes y, sobre todo, recuperar la salud del suelo. En este trabajo se realizaron una serie de estudios encaminados a la selecci\u00f3n de especies vegetales con un alto potencial para ser empleadas en fitotecnolog\u00edas de recuperaci\u00f3n de suelos contaminados con metales pesados como el zn, pb y cd (fitoextracci\u00f3n y fitoestabilizaci\u00f3n). La elevada diversidad vegetal que albergan los suelos metal\u00edferos de entornos mineros abandonados y revegetados de forma natural, como el de lanestosa en bizkaia, es de especial relevancia para este tipo de estudios ya que permiten seleccionar especies metalofitas nativas con alto potencial para la fitorremediaci\u00f3n. La poblaci\u00f3n minera de rumex acetosa lanestosa, lan, re\u00fane las caracter\u00edsticas id\u00f3neas para ser empleada en fitotecnolog\u00edas de revegetaci\u00f3n de entornos con elevados niveles disponibles de metales pesados as\u00ed como para la fitoextracci\u00f3n de metales como el zn en suelos contaminados. Este potencial puede optimizarse evitando la limitaci\u00f3n del d\u00e9ficit nutricional de los suelos mineros mediante la fertilizaci\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, la fitoextracci\u00f3n de metales poco biodisponibles como el pb puede incrementarse enormemente mediante el empleo del agente quelante edta. El car\u00e1cter \u00fanico y especial de estos entornos metal\u00edferos actualmente amenazados tanto por causas naturales como antr\u00f3picas, pone de relevancia la importancia y urgencia de preservar estos emplazamientos y los organismos end\u00e9micos que albergan tanto desde un punto de vista ecol\u00f3gico, cient\u00edfico, tecnol\u00f3gico o
