El estudio se ha realizado aplicando t\u00e9cnicas de biolog\u00eda molecular y biolog\u00eda tradicional, adem\u00e1s de la determinaci\u00f3n de par\u00e1metros f\u00edsico-qu\u00edmicos. Los organismos encontrados en el sistema pertenecen a los tres dominios. La mayor diversidad encontrada se agrupa en el dominio eukarya. La mayor\u00eda de los organismos fueron determinados por medio del gen 16s rdna y han sido descritos como productores primarios y degradadores de la materia org\u00e1nica por la v\u00eda aerobia. Por la v\u00eda anaerobia la caracterizaci\u00f3n f\u00edsco-qu\u00edmica y molecular (gen aps) ayud\u00f3 a establecer que el sedimento alberga organismos reductores de sulfato y por la v\u00eda molecular (gen mcra) arqueas metanog\u00e9nicas.  se ha realizado un modelo de funcionamiento basado en el ciclo del carbono, donde la mayor\u00eda de las v\u00edas biol\u00f3gicamente mediadas se han
