Desde \u00e9sta perspectiva, la tesista analiza el jibarismo dentro de su contexto caribe\u00f1o y de la pol\u00edtica mundial de los siglos xviii al xxi. Luego, estudia los conceptos del imaginario, as\u00ed como el de la mitolog\u00eda y la ideolog\u00eda en general y la mitolog\u00eda pol\u00edtica en espec\u00edfico, claves para comprender el jibarismo puertorrique\u00f1o. Tambi\u00e9n, estudia la construcci\u00f3n del imaginario j\u00edbaro con el objetivo de analizar la creaci\u00f3n del mito jibarista mediante la manipulaci\u00f3n de una infraestructura cultural y una literatura criollista. La autora se acerca al imaginario jibarista mediante una revisi\u00f3n del esp\u00edritu espa\u00f1ol del siglo xx a trav\u00e9s de tres obras can\u00f3nicas, todas creadas en las primeras tres d\u00e9cadas de la invasi\u00f3n norteamericana. Se cuestiona as\u00ed la identidad nacional hecha por la \u00e9lite y los intelectuales puertorrique\u00f1os, la cual ha sido y sigue siendo una estrategia para presentar una memoria hegem\u00f3nica como leg\u00edtima; para explicar, justificar y sostener su lugar de privilegio. Adem\u00e1s, estudia c\u00f3mo estas obras han influenciado y siguen influenciando las identidades en la isla y en la di\u00e1spora. La tesis termina con la exploraci\u00f3n de la institucionalizaci\u00f3n del jibarismo con la consolidaci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica del partido popular democr\u00e1tico a trav\u00e9s del estado libre asociado de puerto rico. La tesista tambi\u00e9n profundiza en la exportaci\u00f3n del mito del jibarismo a la comunidad puertorrique\u00f1a en la di\u00e1spora a comienzos de la d\u00e9cada de los setenta. Despu\u00e9s, busca entender el contexto socio-hist\u00f3rico en que se forma el muralismo puertorrique\u00f1o en nueva york a trav\u00e9s de tres obras de arte p\u00fablico dirigidas por la artista
