Su eficiente luminiscencia a temperatura ambiente debida al confinamiento cu\u00e1ntico as\u00ed como las propiedades de transporte e inyecci\u00f3n de carga so dos fen\u00f3menos que aun no se entienden en su totalidad. Nuestro trabajo es aprovechas las propiedades \u00f3pticas y fot\u00f3nicas que nos ofrecen las nanoestructuras para construir dispositivos ni tan siquiera imaginables hoy con los materiales y procedimientos actuales. En esta tesis doctoral, se estudian las posibles aplicaciones de los puntos cu\u00e1nticos de silicio en campos tales como memorias no-vol\u00e1tiles, fen\u00f3menos de un \u00fanico electr\u00f3n, dispositivos emisores de luz compatibles cmos basados en nanocristales y, finalmente, su modulaci\u00f3n directa. Estos cuatro bloques comparten un requisito fundamental para llegar a ser una realidad; las propiedades de transporte a escala nanom\u00e9trica deben primero ser entendidas. S\u00f3lo entonces podremos utilizar las inmensas posibilidades que os brinda la f\u00edsica de estas estructuras. Despu\u00e9s de cuatro cap\u00edtulos donde se dan los resultados publicados en reconocidas revistas cient\u00edficas, se presenta en un quinto cap\u00edtulo un modelo te\u00f3rico compacto que ha demostrado potencial aplicabilidad en la simulaci\u00f3n de los dispositivos tratados en los cap\u00edtulos precedentes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
