Los pelos son adem\u00e1s un vestigio com\u00fan en la escena del crimen. el genoma mitocondrial es el marcador por excelencia en estudios de gen\u00e9tica de poblaciones humana (antropolog\u00eda molecular), y existe desde hace m\u00e1s de dos d\u00e9cadas un inter\u00e9s especial por conocer sus patrones de variabilidad que en general reflejan el pasado demogr\u00e1fico de la poblaci\u00f3n. El estudio de la diversidad gen\u00e9tica en poblaciones es adem\u00e1s de enorme inter\u00e9s en gen\u00e9tica forense ya que la existencia de estratificaci\u00f3n poblacional puede tener consecuencias importantes en la estima de las frecuencias haplot\u00edpicas y por lo tanto en la valoraci\u00f3n estad\u00edstica de la prueba. En gen\u00e9tica cl\u00ednica, la estratificaci\u00f3n es tambi\u00e9n la causa de un alto incremento de falsos positivos en estudios basados en poblaciones (casos-control).  existe un amplio espectro de mutaciones relacionadas con enfermedades mitocondriales. En el laboratorio de diagn\u00f3stico molecular interesa desarrollar t\u00e9cnicas que permitan optimizar el esfuerzo de genotipado y la detecci\u00f3n de mutaciones causales. La secuenciaci\u00f3n de genomas completos no es una t\u00e9cnica adecuada ya que requiere mucho tiempo y demanda adem\u00e1s una alta especializaci\u00f3n t\u00e9cnica.  este documento de tesis se
