A pesar de la existencia de m\u00e9todos eficaces de detecci\u00f3n precoz y tratamientos cada vez m\u00e1s efectivos responsables de la reducci\u00f3n de mortalidad, algunos tipos de tumores presentan todav\u00eda tratamientos dif\u00edciles y bajos \u00edndices de supervivencia. Los f\u00e1rmacos convencionales s\u00f3lo exhiben un \u00edndice terap\u00e9utico moderado, entre c\u00e9lulas sanas y tumorales, por ello los avances recientes se centran en encontrar tratamientos menos t\u00f3xicos para esta enfermedad. As\u00ed pues, los f\u00e1rmacos del futuro deber\u00e1n incidir en rutas biol\u00f3gicas espec\u00edficas, involucrando el crecimiento celular y la proliferaci\u00f3n descontrolada. Siguiendo este planteamiento, en este trabajo se han seleccionado dos mecanismos biol\u00f3gicos involucrados en el c\u00e1ncer, llamados apoptosis (o muerte celular programada) y ruta de las pentosas fosfato, con el objetivo de encontrar nuevos inhibidores de las prote\u00ednas m\u00e1s sensibles de ambas rutas. La sobreexpresi\u00f3n de genes antiapopt\u00f3ticos se ha correlacionado con el crecimiento tumoral y la resistencia a los tratamientos habituales.
