En el grupo tratado se emplearon ratas adultas (de 2 meses) y ratas senescentes (de 18 meses) a las cuales se les administr\u00f3 el cadmio en forma de cloruro (cdcl2) a una dosis de 25 mg\/l en el agua de bebida durante 30 d\u00edas. A los animales del grupo control se les administr\u00f3 agua procedente del suministro de la facultad sin adicionar el cdcl2. Despu\u00e9s del tratamiento los animales fueron sacrificados por decapitaci\u00f3n, sin anestesia previa cada 4 horas a lo largo del d\u00eda comenzando a las 08:00 h, para posteriormente extraer las regiones cerebrales (estriado, hipot\u00e1lamo y eminencia media) y la hip\u00f3fisis, en las cuales fueron cuantificados los amino\u00e1cidos neurotransmisores por la t\u00e9cnica de la cromatograf\u00eda l\u00edquida de alta eficacia con detecci\u00f3n flourim\u00e9trica. Despu\u00e9s de realizar el correspondiente an\u00e1lisis estad\u00edstico y los ritmogramas, se pudo concluir globalmente que la senescencia altera el patr\u00f3n diario de los amino\u00e1cidos neurotransmisores en diversas regiones cerebrales e hipofisarias, y la cronotoxicidad del cadmio a este nivel neuroqu\u00edmico es distinta en rata macho adulta que en
