Adem\u00e1s se incluye una recopilaci\u00f3n breve del estado del arte sobre el comportamiento mec\u00e1nico de estos vasos. Tambi\u00e9n se describen los modelos constitutivos de comportamiento no lineal (con grandes deformaciones) e hiperel\u00e1sticos utilizados para la simulaci\u00f3n num\u00e9rica de la pared arterial, en una formulaci\u00f3n implementable en un programa de elementos finitos.%&#038;\/Se han realizado una serie de experimentos para caracterizar la respuesta mec\u00e1nica de vasos arteriales. Se llevaron a cabo ensayos de tracci\u00f3n, presurizaci\u00f3n, medici\u00f3n del \u00e1ngulo de apertura e histolog\u00eda en paredes de aorta con diferentes antecedentes cl\u00ednicos.%&#038;\/Mediante los ensayos se ajustaron los par\u00e1metros de los modelos constitutivos y se obtuvieron otros par\u00e1metros mec\u00e1nicos de inter\u00e9s, como las tensiones y deformaciones de rotura. Con ellos se ha cuantificado el efecto de la patolog\u00eda y la edad en la respuesta mec\u00e1nica de este tipo de tejidos.%&#038;\/Empleando los modelos ajustados en los ensayos de tracci\u00f3n uniaxial se ha realizado la simulaci\u00f3n de diversos ensayos de presurizaci\u00f3n, valid\u00e1ndose con las mediciones efectuadas en este mismo trabajo.%&#038;\/Finalmente, tambi\u00e9n se ha llevado a cabo el an\u00e1lisis num\u00e9rico de un cayado a\u00f3rtico en condiciones de funcionamiento fisiol\u00f3gico normales, de hipertensi\u00f3n o en condiciones m\u00e1s severas provocadas
