Las muestras de sedimentos superficiales fueron recogidas mediante una draga tipo petersen en veintiuna estaciones entre las localidades de sobradinho y cura\u00ed\u00a7\u00e1. Los cops analizados fueron: hidrocarbonatos arom\u00e1ticos polic\u00edclicos (haps), policlorobifenilos (pcbs) y pesticidas organoclorados (ocs). Adem\u00e1s fueron realizadas medidas de par\u00e1metros f\u00edsico-qu\u00edmicos en el fondo de la columna de agua y tambi\u00e9n la caracterizaci\u00f3n f\u00edsica y qu\u00edmica de los sedimentos. La determinaci\u00f3n de los 15 haps prioritarios se realiz\u00f3 por la t\u00e9cnica de cromatograf\u00eda de l\u00edquidos de alta resoluci\u00f3n (hplc) con detector de fluorescencia. Los niveles de concentraci\u00f3n de los haps se situaron entre 6,15 y 166 ng.G-1, indicando un grado de contaminaci\u00f3n de bajo a moderado. Se pudo observar, a trav\u00e9s de las relaciones moleculares y del an\u00e1lisis multivariante, la predominancia de haps originados por procesos de combusti\u00f3n. La determinaci\u00f3n de los pesticidas organoclorados se llev\u00f3 a cabo mediante la t\u00e9cnica de cromatograf\u00eda de gases acoplada a un detector espectrom\u00e9trico de masas (gc\/ms). Fueron observados niveles de concentraci\u00f3n de los ocs en el rango de 1,51-820 ng.G-1, indicando niveles de muy bajos a elevados. Los ocs m\u00e1s frecuentes fueron los compuestos endrina aldeh\u00eddo, \u00c2\u00bf-hch, \u00edY-hch, \u00c2\u00bf-hch, heptacloro y heptacloro ep\u00f3xido. Los pcbs fueron analizados por la t\u00e9cnica de cromatograf\u00eda de gases de alta resoluci\u00f3n (hrgc) con detector de espectrometr\u00eda de masas de alta resoluci\u00f3n (hrms). Los niveles de concentraci\u00f3n de los pcbs en las muestras de sedimentos analizados variaron de 5,68 a 259 pg.G-1, considerados muy bajos, indicando que la regi\u00f3n no se muestra afectada por estos contaminantes. En todas las estaciones estudiadas se observaron caracter\u00edsticas de distribuci\u00f3n similares con el siguiente orden de predominancia: penta-cbs  >  hexa-cbs  > tetra-cbs >
