El factor principal que media los efectos del clorato en chlamydomonas es el transportador de nitrato de alta afinidad codificado por los genes nar, ademas del gen regulador especifico de la ruta de asimilacion de nitrato, nit-2, y de 7 genes para resistencia o sensibilidad a altas o bajas concentraciones de clorato denominados hcr y icr respectivamente, que no estan directamente relacionados con la asimilacion de nitrato.  se han identificado dos genes, nrg-1 y nrg-2, que median la regulacion negativa ejercida por amonio sobre la ruta de asimilacion de nitrato. La expresion de una actividad nitrato reductasa constitutiva permite la expresion de los genes nar en presencia de amonio. Tres supresores de mutaciones que afectan al gen regulador nit-2 activan un mecanismo alternativo de expresion de los genes relacionados con la asimilacion de nitrato, dependiente de proteina plastidica, que parece ser operativo en condiciones de cultivo mixotrofico. El dna del gen de la nitrito reductasa de la cianobacteria phormidium laminosum parece integrarse eficientemente en una localizacion proxima a la agrupacion de genes relacionados con la asimilacion de nitrato, lo que muy probablemente ocurre mediante insercion en el gen de la nitrito reductasa de chlamydomonas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
