Su fuerte caracter hidrofobico favorece su incorporacion en las membranas sinteticas y naturales donde disminuyen la temperatura de la transicion de la fase gel a la fase liquido-cristalina de los fosfolipidos y alteran el orden de las bicapas. Los resultados sugieren que la aletrina se localiza en regiones proximas al glicerol, probablemente en una conformacion extendida mientras que deltametrina se localiza preferentemente en la mitad inferior de la bicapa y permetrina en la porcion inicial de los acidos grasos (c1-c8) de la membrana.  la aletrina facilita la liberacion de la carboxifluoresceina encapsulada en las membranas fluidas de fosfatidilcolina de huevo, favorece la lisis de los eritrocitos y la fusion de liposomas de fosfatidilserina, inducida por calcio. Por otra parte, la cantidad de calcio acumulado en las vesiculas de reticulo sarcoplasmico tratadas con aletrina es mayor que en las membranas control. Esta accion probablemente se relaciona con la fuerte estimulacion que sufre la ca2+, mg2+-atpasa tras el tratamiento de las membranas de reticulo sarcoplasmico con
