Esta tesis se estructur\u00f3 en cinco cap\u00edtulos.  en el primer cap\u00edtulo se estudi\u00f3 la estructura y la zonaci\u00f3n de la meiofauna presente en intermareales arenosos de galicia. Los resultados muestran que la abundancia de la meiofauna esta dominada por nematoda, copepoda, foraminiferida, oligochaeta y platyhelminthes. Las variables ambientales que mejor explicaron la distribuci\u00f3n de la meiofauna fueron porosidad, concentraci\u00f3n de nitr\u00f3geno, potencial redox y contenido en agua del sedimento.  en un segundo cap\u00edtulo se estudi\u00f3 la variaci\u00f3n temporal de la densidad de la meiofauna durante un periodo de dos a\u00f1os. La distribuci\u00f3n vertical estuvo relacionada con el potencial redox y la tempereatura. La variaci\u00f3n en las densidades estuvo relacionada con la temperatura, concentraci\u00f3n de nutrientes, salinidad, potencial redox y tama\u00f1o de grano medio.  en el tercer cap\u00edtulo se estudi\u00f3 la relaci\u00f3n entre la distribuci\u00f3n de la meiofauna y la morfodin\u00e1mica y el grado de exposici\u00f3n al oleaje. La variabilidad en la composici\u00f3n a lo largo del intermareal aument\u00f3 de playas reflectivas hacia playas disipativas. La abundancia total de la meiofauna aument\u00f3 desde playas protegidas hasta playas muy expuestas.  en el cuarto cap\u00edtulo se estudi\u00f3 la distribuci\u00f3n a mesoescala de la meiofauna en una playa intermedia. La densidad de la meiofauna estuvo autocorrelacionada significativamente en escala de tres a seis metros existiendo anisotrop\u00eda.  en el quinto capitulo se evalu\u00f3 la variaci\u00f3n del \u00edndice nem\u00e1todos\/cop\u00e9podos con relaci\u00f3n a las caracter\u00edsticas ambientales.
