Estos dispositivos presentan un brillo y una calidad de haz superiores a otros l\u00e1seres de semiconductor de potencia, pero su funcionamiento complejo hace conveniente la utilizaci\u00f3n de herramientas de simulaci\u00f3n en el proceso de optimizaci\u00f3n. Se ha profundizado en la comprensi\u00f3n del funcionamiento global de estos dispositivos, as\u00ed como en los mecanismos que deterioran y limitan su rendimiento.  se ha desarrollado un simulador tridimensional para diodos l\u00e1ser en forma de embudo operando en r\u00e9gimen continuo. El trabajo de modelado se ha centrado en la implementaci\u00f3n bi- y tri-dimensional de los modelos el\u00e9ctricos y t\u00e9rmicos, como extensi\u00f3n de modelos unidimensionales previamente existentes, y en la optimizaci\u00f3n de su acoplo con un modelo \u00f3ptico desarrollado externamente. las ecuaciones de poisson y continuidad para electrones\/huecos se resuelven autoconsistentemente con acopla-miento a un modelo bidimensional de propagaci\u00f3n del haz. Se ha desarrollado un m\u00e9todo original de calibraci\u00f3n de los par\u00e1metros del modelo, que ha demostrado la validez del modelo a trav\u00e9s de su buena concordancia con resultados experimentales en distintos dise\u00f1os y materiales.  han sido identificados los dos principales mecanismos responsables del deterioro de la calidad del haz: filtrado espacial insuficiente en la secci\u00f3n recta y autoenfoque del haz debido a la lente inducida por los portadores. se exponen diversas alternativas para con-trarrestar estos efectos, incidiendo en el papel de elementos clave como los deflectores de haz y la reflectividad de los espejos. Igualmente, se estudian estrategias de optimiza-ci\u00f3n en funci\u00f3n de varios par\u00e1metros de dise\u00f1o, proponi\u00e9ndose unos criterios generales que ayuden a mejorar sus
