A lo largo de dicha banda afloran cinco plutones graniticos de reducidas dimensiones, dispuestos paralelamente a la direccion de las grandes estructuras hercinicas regionales, y que de n a s se denominan boal, el pato, ancares, campo de agua y ponferrada. Estan esencialmente formados por monzogranitos de dos micas, con cantidades variables de leucogranitos y aplitas moscoviticos. Geoquimicamente, se trata de granitos peraluminicos muy silicicos que evolucionaron esencialmente a traves de procesos de cristalizacion fraccionada de feldespatos, biotila y monacita. Las caracteristicas petrograficas, geoquimicas e isotopicas indican que estos granitos se formaron por fusion parcial de un protolito metapelitico-cuarzofeldespatico a profundidades equivalentes a=6kb, temperaturas de 750-800c y tasas de fusion parcial proximas al de fusion parcial proximas al cmf. La fusion cortical se debe a la intrusion de magmas basicos de origen mantelico en la corteza media-inferior.  en la banda boal-los ancares se reconocen dos episodios de metamorfismo hercinico:  i) episodio de metamorfismo regional sincinematico en facies esquistos verdes. Esta caracterizado por asociaciones con ms-chl-qz+ab. En las rocas de composicion adecuada, ademas de dichos minerales, aparecen cloritoide y granate. Este episodio esta relacionado con el engrosamiento cortical de la colision hercinica, y la cristalizacion de los minerales es anterior a la ultima fase comprensiva establecida en la zona.  i) episodio de metamorfismo tardihercinico.
