La reactividad de dos de estos aniones, (mn2(u- p(oet)2)(u-op(oet)2)(co)6)2- (1) y (mn2(co)6(u-dppm))2- (2) ha sido estudiada con detalle. La oxidacion de 1 en presencia de fosfinas l o l2 permite preparar derivados del tipo (mn2(u-p (oet)2)(u-op(oet)2)(co)7l) o (mn2(u- p(oet)2)(u-op(oet)2)(co)6l2), y su reaccion con halogeno-complejos de metales de los grupos 11 y 12 lleva a la formacion de derivados heterometalicos de composicion mn2m (m=zn, cu, ag, au), mn2m2 (m=ag, au) o mn2au3. La oxidacion de 2 genera un intermedio altamente reactivo capaz de promover la formacion de especies de dificil o imposible acceso a traves de rutas alternativas, entre las que destacan los derivados (mn2(u-n1, n2-x)(co)6(u- dppm)) (x=co, cchr, nctbu).
