La visi\u00f3n tridimensional es la parte de la visi\u00f3n por computador que utiliza las propiedades tridimensionales de una escena real (obtenidas de su digitalizaci\u00f3n) para realizar una interpretaci\u00f3n sobre la misma. En este caso, se trata de reconocer la cara humana, usando para ello informaci\u00f3n 3d.  este trabajo de investigaci\u00f3n se ha centrado en la b\u00fasqueda de nuevos planteamientos que mejoren la robustez de los sistemas de reconocimiento facial autom\u00e1tico ante variaciones de las distintas im\u00e1genes faciales de cada individuo. as\u00ed, se ha profundizado en metodolog\u00edas que liberen en gran medida a estos sistemas, de su dependencia respecto de las condiciones de adquisici\u00f3n de las im\u00e1genes (iluminaci\u00f3n, maquillaje, sombras, transformaciones geom\u00e9tricas, expresiones faciales, etc.), As\u00ed como en la b\u00fasqueda de informaci\u00f3n 3d extra\u00edble de las im\u00e1genes de caras humanas, que aporte un mayor poder de discriminaci\u00f3n entre individuos.  para la evaluaci\u00f3n de las t\u00e9cnicas propuestas, se ha creado una base de datos de im\u00e1genes faciales 3d, suficientemente amplia en cuanto a n\u00famero de individuos y rica en variaciones entre im\u00e1genes de cada individuo. Dichas im\u00e1genes consisten en mallados tridimensionales que representan a las superficies faciales de forma realista, adquiridos mediante un digitalizador 3d.
