Estos enzimas juegan un papel muy importante en una amplia variedad de procesos biol\u00f3gicos, como el procesamiento de las glicoprote\u00ednas en la superficie de las paredes celulares, la digesti\u00f3n de los carbohidratos en los animales, la regulaci\u00f3n del nivel de az\u00facar en sangre, la replicaci\u00f3n del vih o la expresi\u00f3n de glicosiltransferasa en la formaci\u00f3n de tumores. Por tanto, el descubrimiento y desarrollo de nuevos inhibidores espec\u00edficos y competitivos de glicosidasas, que permitan controlar la acci\u00f3n de la glicosidasas en el organismo, es fundamental para su aplicaci\u00f3n en el tratamiento de enfermedades tales como la diabetes, el c\u00e1ncer o el sida.  los carboaz\u00facares, un amplio grupo de carbociclos de estructura similare a los carbohidratos, en los que el \u00e1tomo de ox\u00edgeno del carbociclo se encuentra sustituido por un grupo metileno, constituyen una de las familias m\u00e1s importantes de inhibidores de glicosidasas, debido a su capacidad de mimetizar a los carbohidratos y su estabilidad frente a la hidr\u00f3lisis en el centro activo de dichos enzimas.  en este trabajo de tesis doctoral se plantea la s\u00edntesis de nuevos carboaz\u00facares polihidroxilados y aminopolihidroxilados, como potenciales inhibidores de glicosidasas, utilizando como precursor quiral un carbociclo comercial y barato con 4 centros quirales susceptibles de m\u00faltiples modificaciones, el \u00e1cido (-)-qu\u00ednico.  en concreto, se aborda la s\u00edntesis de los compuestos, con estructura relacionada con la
