Los objetivos de este estudio fueron analizar la alteraci\u00f3n de diversas propiedades de suelos sometidos a este tipo de agricultura. Las muestras se tomaron en el p\u00e1ramo de gavidia, en el estado de m\u00e9rida, venezuela, entre 3350 y 3700 msnn (temperatura y precipitaci\u00f3n media anual de 8,5\u00c2\u00bac y 1329 mm respectivamente). se determinaron diversos par\u00e1metros bi\u00f3ticos (microorganismos heter\u00f3trofos, fotoaut\u00f3trofos, de ciclo del c y del n, biomasa, diversidad funcional y actividad microbianas) y abi\u00f3ticos (ph, conductividad el\u00e9ctrica, capacidad de campo, textura, c org\u00e1nico, n total y p,k, ca y na asimilables) y se analizaron factores energ\u00e9ticos y nutricionales que limitan la actividad microbiana y tratamientos que puedan mejorar esta variable en suelos cl\u00edmax, cultivados y con descansos de entre 1 y 25 a\u00f1os. El estudio detallado se realiz\u00f3 en 33 parcelas: 4 de p\u00e1ramo cl\u00edmax, 6 cultivadas, 23 en descanso.  los suelos presentaron una textura franco-arcillo-arenosa, ph \u00e1cido (5,2 +- 0,3), conductividad el\u00e9ctrica de 208 +- 79 us cm-1, capacidad de campo de 52 +- 8%, abundante cantidad de materia org\u00e1nica (86 +- 23 g c kg-1 s.Y 5,34 +- 1,71 g n kg-1 s.) Con relaci\u00f3n c:n elevada (17 +- 2) y cantidades bajas de elementos asimilables (ca2+ mayor k+ mayor mg2+ mayor na+ mayor p). El uso del suelo (cl\u00edmax, cultivo, descanso) explic\u00f3 un porcentaje significativo de la variaci\u00f3n del ph, capacidad de campo, contenido de c org\u00e1nico y n total, ca y p asimilables. Los valores de estas variables fueron bajos en los suelos cultivados, intermedios en los suelos en descanso y altos en los cl\u00edmax, excepto en el caso del p  asimilable que mostr\u00f3
